Welcome to The Wandering Rumpus – a resource for families who love to wander. Whether it’s around the globe or around your backyard, we aim to provide stories, tips, best practices, camaraderie and lots of laughter around traveling with kids.
In a nutshell, I’m a writer and mom of 3 girls living in Nashville who loves to adventure with my crew. I also love to hear travel tales from other families who adventure with their kids – and I’m excited to share our adventures and stories here!
Here’s what you can expect to find at The Wandering Rumpus:
Weekly posts
I will share tips and stories full of travel-with-kids topics such as visiting museums, car ride activities, travel accommodation, national parks, hiking, travel gear, shopping in foreign countries…and much more!
City Guides
I’m frequently asked where visitors should take kids in Nashville. I also love to research towns and cities for kid-friendly activities before we visit. This will be a place to share all of our favorite kid-friendly things to do and places to visit in various cities and towns both in the U.S. and around the world.
Interviews
We have so many friends and family who also love to travel and explore with their kids. Plus, we love hearing and reading about other family adventures. Here, we will share interviews with families who have taken unique trips – how they did it, what they did, what was hard, what was easy, what they would do again, etc. (If you’ve traveled with kids in a unique way and would like to share your trip experience, let me know! We’d love to feature your adventure!)
Be the Change
I’ve had countless conversations with friends and family about what we can do after a national or international disaster – how we can help – or about our local homeless community, or how we can find effective ways to volunteer with our kids. We will work with colleagues, friends and professional aid contacts to curate the best resources and opportunities for you to donate your time and/or money to causes and organizations that matter to you – both locally and worldwide.
Thank you for visiting – we’re so excited to get started on this adventure. Please reach out to me if you have ideas or questions and please come back regularly to see what’s new!
