We totally indulge in chocolate advent calendars at our house – in fact, this year each of our 3 girls has her own chocolate calendar to open each morning plus the decadent truffle filled Aldi<\/a> calendar that my husband purchased on a whim – but several years ago I scored a fabric advent calendar with pockets at an after-Christmas sale. At first I wrote advent activities to do around the holidays for each pocket such as bake cookies, drive around the neighborhood and see holiday lights, watch a holiday movie – but after several nights when we simply couldn’t get to that particular advent activity, I decided to change it up a bit and make a list of advent kindness activities. My whole family loves it and I feel like it epitomizes the season of advent too.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

I shared the calendar on Instagram recently and several people asked me about it – so today I’m sharing our advent kindness activities if you’d like to use them…or create your own with these as inspiration. In true mom-of-three-style, I simply leave the small notes in the calendar when I store it after the holidays and re-use them year after year. The girls love reading the new activity each morning and talking about if they succeeded at dinner each night! Be sure to check out #13 – it is my favorite!<\/p>\n

  1. Compliment someone today<\/li>\n
  2. Write a thank you note to someone who helps you<\/li>\n
  3. Hug someone<\/li>\n
  4. Make a list of things you’re thankful for<\/li>\n
  5. Make someone laugh<\/li>\n
  6. Pick up a piece of litter today<\/li>\n
  7. Ask your teacher how you can help today<\/li>\n
  8. Collect loose change and donate it<\/li>\n
  9. Make a card for a school staff member<\/li>\n
  10. Introduce yourself to someone new<\/li>\n
  11. Let someone get in line ahead of you<\/li>\n
  12. Tell someone all the reasons you like them<\/li>\n
  13. Clean up a mess you didn’t make<\/li>\n
  14. Make a card for the mail person<\/li>\n
  15. Perform a random act of kindness today<\/li>\n
  16. Pick a few of your toys to donate to a charity<\/li>\n
  17. Hold the door open for someone<\/li>\n
  18. Do an extra chore at home<\/li>\n
  19. Tape a kind & bright note to a car window for everyone to see<\/li>\n
  20. Donate books to your school or local library<\/li>\n
  21. Write a nice sidewalk message with chalk (or in the snow)<\/li>\n
  22. Smile at everyone you see today<\/li>\n
  23. Tell a stranger to have a nice day<\/li>\n
  24. Compliment one of your siblings<\/li>\n
  25. Call a long-distance relative<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n

    Here’s a printable of “An Advent of Kindness” with a couple of blank lines too. You can put them in envelopes, pockets or just fold them and put them in a bowl to open each morning in December!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
