Porto is the second largest city in Portugal (after Lisbon where my family <a href=\"https:\/\/thewanderingrumpus.comindex.php\/2018\/01\/18\/europe-with-kids-a-summary-of-food-favorites-fails\/\">briefly visited last January<\/a>) and the\u00a0city is situated along the coast in northwest Portugal. Porto, Portugal is known for its stately bridges and port wine production. Long walks along cobblestone streets, gorgeous\u00a0Portuguese\u00a0tile and churches, seafood and port wine, of course, made this the perfect spot for a romantic getaway (and milestone birthday celebration for her husband). But the port &#8211; and the cities namesake &#8211; is a must. Most of the port wine cellars and rooftop bars are over the Douro in Vila Nova de Gaia, with beautiful views back to Porto and are incredible\u00a0to sit and have a drink.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-2402 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/thewanderingrumpus.comwp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/image1-2-300x216.jpeg?resize=451%2C325&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"451\" height=\"325\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/thewanderingrumpus.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/image1-2.jpeg?resize=300%2C216&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/thewanderingrumpus.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/image1-2.jpeg?resize=80%2C58&amp;ssl=1 80w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/thewanderingrumpus.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/image1-2.jpeg?w=320&amp;ssl=1 320w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 451px) 100vw, 451px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 40px; font-weight: bold;\">E<\/span>at:\u00a0Taberna Est\u00e1-se Bem<\/h2>\n<p>Taberna Est\u00e1-se Bem is located in the Rua Reboleira district on the water in Porto. Although it is located\u00a0in a very touristy part of town, this tapas bar and tavern puts a delicious spin on the everyday tapas you find in Porto &#8211; with lots of variety. The owner also owns a high-end wine house and restaurant 50 yards away called Ode. It was one of the best meals I have had in my life! Make sure to make a reservation in advance.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size: 40px; font-weight: bold;\">R<\/span>est:\u00a0Apartreboleira<\/h2>\n<p>We stayed right on the river in an Airbnb called Apartreboleira. Our apartment had a stunning terrace with a view, it was centrally located and easy to get anywhere in the city. Parking was close and convenient too.
